What You Will Receive:
Upon successful completion of the Course and a passing grade on the exam (minimum of 70%) the applicant will receive a Certification of Real Estate Paralegal (C-REP) ©. When the C-REP has a prospective client who may benefit from their assistance and advice they can work with a lawyer who can also help that client if the need for legal services arises. Depending on what the C-REP is doing for the Attorney the C-REP can be compensated for the providing of paralegal services. For example, when a C-REP works with DLO and the C-REP helps the firm gather paralegal information through our Confidential Worksheets, DLO compensates the C-REP. The normal fee paid for helping a client fill out the Confidential Worksheets is $500.00. It is mandatory that all information provided to any Attorney with whom the C-REP works be verified by the Attorney with the prospective client. Additionally, any question of a client asking for legal advice should be answered only by an attorney. If you are a C-REP who works with DLO, we have Attorneys on staff who are available for you. That is to say, if you are a C-REP working with our firm and you are sitting with your client, you are welcomed to call the office for a free consultation and support. In other words, DLO will operate as your "back office". If you have a client with whom you are working, and they ask you a question regarding real estate law, simply pick up the phone and call a dedicated 800 number and you will be connected to an experienced attorney who can answer your client's questions. Again, the C-REP has much greater credibility than others in that field since they have an Attorney "on staff" to help them answer the question that either they don't know the answer to, or the Department of Real Estate doesn't want them answering, such as "In what form of title should we hold our property?"
Qualifications:
It is mandatory that you have a background in real estate transactions. The typical applicant is one who has some knowledge, but is smart enough to know they need more, of how real estate transactions work in California. Real Estate Agents and Brokers, Mortgage Brokers, Bankers, Loan Officers and the like have always been excellent applicants. Each of these professionals have previously been granted professional licenses. DLO is keenly aware that these professionals need "back office" support to enhance their credibility and careers. Never before has a service such as this been provided to professionals in these fields. Becoming a C-REP through the Dimeff Law Office will give the C-REP a better understanding of the law in their field and enhance their careers.
Cost of the Certification Program:
The Cost of the Certification program material, the test, the grading thereof and the Certificate of Completion signifying a successful grade on the test is $495.00. The C-REP material will be provided to the applicant and will be down-loadable for purposes of printing it out. Once you have reviewed the material and feel confident enough to take the exam you will be provided with a code to access one of the on-line examinations. It is an open book test and you are welcome to use your material and take as long as you wish for the test. Once you have completed the test, and checked a box signifying “under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of California” that you are the person who took the test, you will press the Submit Exam button & your exam will be forwarded automatically to DLO for grading. You will then be notified of your grade & which questions you missed, if any, and what the correct answer(s) were. We want all applicants to understand which questions they missed and why.
